You can now mark a card as done from the board via the contextual menu: simply right-click the card tile.
Other quick actions:

Has this view since been removed/replaced? I see no view where the first level cards have checkboxes. Also strange that you woyld mention cluttering the card tiles, because sub-cards do have checkboxes in kanban view.
Could you maybe reconsider the checkboxes for cards in kanban and table views at least as an option and/or only visible on mouse hover? Would make your tool so much more usable as a daily to-do list where many tasks need to be completed quickly.

Great suggestion, it would make the calendar view far more useful. It will require a major overhaul of the calendar view though.

Also it would make a lot of sense for the newly created card to inherit all the attributes from the original card. Or at least make it optional, which ones to inherit. Right now it's impossible to create recurring tasks that automatically get a new due date every time.
